Alex is a valued member of the Quantity Surveying team, who assists and shadows our senior quantity surveyors across a number of areas.

Prior to joining Maynard Marks, Alex spent three years studying at Otago Polytechnic. He graduated in early 2021 with a Bachelor of Construction (Quantity Surveying). While studying, in order to develop his skills and knowledge in the construction industry, Alex worked at a local engineering firm in Oamaru. This gave him a general understanding of engineering, project management and estimating through the process of analysing and pricing work based off two-dimensional drawings. As a result, Alex was able to utilize and build on the skills and knowledge gained through his tertiary education.

At Maynard Marks, Alex assists our Senior Quantity Surveyors on a variety of projects, including special needs modification projects at schools around New Zealand for the Ministry of Education, weathertightness remediation, building alteration projects and new build projects. He prepares Initial cost estimates and is involved in helping with tender analysis and contract administration work. Alex is also involved in creating and setting up tools and resources that are used across the Quantity Surveying team to help enhance efficiency and deliver more high-quality work.

Alex prides himself on his strong attention to detail which ensures his work is thorough and accurate. His great leadership and communication skills help him to deliver high quality work and service to clients.

Alex is currently working towards membership of both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NZIQS).
