Following the delivery of Beach Haven Primary School's 10-Year Property Plan (10YPP), Maynard Marks was appointed to project manage several key aspects, enhancing the school’s physical environment to better support learning for years to come.

The project:

Our Project Management team were engaged by Beach Haven Primary School's Board of Trustees to develop their 10 Year Property Plan (10YPP). Following the Ministry of Education's approval of the plan, we were engaged to manage several significant projects.

One key project involved the modernisation of an original classroom block to improve the internal transparency between single-cell spaces and increase flexibility across three classrooms. The student toilet facilities were also upgraded as part of this project and an under-utilised outdoor space was converted to a covered learning area, accessed directly from the classrooms.

Our value add:

The classroom block renovation provided the opportunity for continued sustainable building design solutions, with the block already featuring solar panels previously installed on its roof. We successfully applied for funding from the Ministry of Education's Sustainable Contestable Fund, on the Board’s behalf, which enabled rainwater harvesting for toilet flushing to be incorporated into the design.

Working in close collaboration with multiple consultants, we effectively mitigated several issues that were discovered during the construction stage. One example included extensive fire damage dating back to the 1980s, which was revealed when the ceiling and wall linings were removed.

We successfully delivered Beach Haven Primary School's projects by providing end-to-end services, from writing the 10-Year Property Plan (10YPP) to project management and contract administration. Our comprehensive approach added significant value, particularly due to our in-depth understanding of the various Ministry of Education (MOE) funding sources. The classroom block project was financed through a mix of MOE funding sources, including the 5-Year Agreement (5YA), School Investment Package, Accelerated Modernisation Funding, and the Sustainability Contestable Fund.

The result is a modern sustainable classroom block, future-proofed for the school community for years to come.
