Rebecca studied building surveying at Caledonian University in Scotland, successfully completing her Honours degree in 2014. A large portion of her university course involved site visits and surveying opportunities, allowing her to see and identify building defects and construction methods first hand. This practical approach provided her with the sound knowledge, comprehension and skills essential for a career in building surveying.
After graduating, and prior to joining Maynard Marks, Rebecca worked for a number of years as a building surveyor in the UK. During that time she was involved in large adaptive reuse projects and undertook technical due diligence on a number of projects. She also carried out dilapidation surveys, high level condition surveys and measured surveys and was involved in contract administration. During this time Rebecca gained experience on a range of projects from commercial through to student accommodation, public sector and retail.
At Maynard Marks, Rebecca is involved in all aspects of Building Surveying, under the direction of our Senior Building Surveyors. This includes identifying and managing asbestos, building pathology, condition surveys, due-diligence surveys, assessing buildings affected by weathertightness and generally learning the profession of a Building Surveyor in New Zealand.
Rebecca is currently working towards her assessment of professional competence with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors (NZIBS) to become a Chartered and Registered Building Surveyor.
