Sam Overfield

Sam has diverse experience in the residential and commercial building surveying sectors having worked in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.

While studying, Sam undertook an extended work placement with a building consultancy firm based in New Zealand, where he gained experience in, and an understanding of, the local built environment. He was predominantly involved in weathertightness related projects, with a focus on defect analysis and providing expert witness assistance for both residential and large-scale commercial construction related legal disputes.

Prior to his return to New Zealand in early 2017, Sam completed his degree in the UK and was awarded the highest classification. He was employed concurrently to his study by a multi-disciplinary surveying practice. His role primarily involved advising major national housing providers in defect diagnostics and remediation, accessibility adaptations, feasibility studies and energy performance assessments.

Sam is particularly strong in the areas of weather tightness investigation and remediation, and contract administration services. Sam helps clients to understand the various issues that surround these subject areas from pragmatic solutions to legislative and contractual obligations.

Other areas in which Sam regularly adds value to clients’ projects include producing dilapidation schedules, and acting as client representative during large redevelopment projects.

Sam is an enthusiastic and ambitious professional who enjoys fulfilling and exceeding the expectations of clients by providing the best service possible.

With a strong focus on professional development, Sam holds full membership of the New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors (NZIBS).
